Before the finish Line
Finding joy in every step of the journey.
There are moments when I pause and look back at my day, my week, or even the past few months, and I realize I've accomplished more than I gave myself credit for.
For the longest time, I was always looking ahead to the next goal, barely taking time to appreciate the one I'd just reached. But lately, I gave it a try and it opened my eyes ; like during practicals I noticed I consistently scored above 16 which according to some is "impossible" .
I didn't realize how that was speaking for me until , when I had an issue with my machine and the teacher had to evaluate , it was hectic for me to present my work and there was no way to justify why .Then the teacher said " nevermind I've been seeing your efforts I'll evaluate you when you fix your issues " in my mind I was like " Just like that???" . Afterwards I immediately went to check my records and I was amazed .
I don't really know what people consider a small achievement. All I know is that every step forward is proof of growth, and growth is always worth celebrating.
Every completed task, every lesson learned, every obstacle overcome, and every bit of progress deserves to be acknowledged. If we only celebrate the major milestones, we miss the beauty of the journey that brought us there.
A simple example is birthdays. Surprisingly, some people find it difficult to celebrate their own birthdays. They brush the day aside as though it isn't significant. But if you can't pause to celebrate your own life, how easy will it be to genuinely celebrate someone else's?
"Love your neighbor as yourself." This verse carries an often-overlooked truth: as yourself. The love, kindness, and grace we extend to others should first exist within us. If we fail to appreciate ourselves, we'll often struggle to fully appreciate others. Celebrating your own progress isn't an act of pride; it's an act of gratitude. It's recognizing that every achievement, no matter how small, is evidence that God is at work in your life and that you are becoming who He is shaping you to be.
Celebrate the assignment you finally completed. Celebrate the skill you learned. Celebrate the interview you had the courage to attend. Celebrate the project that once seemed impossible. Celebrate waking up and choosing to try again after a difficult day. Celebrate the quiet victories that no one else notices. They matter.
The truth is, life isn't only about reaching the destination. It is also about recognizing the progress you've made along the way. Those little victories are laying the foundation for the bigger ones. One day, you'll look back and realize that what you once called "small" was actually shaping the person you were becoming.
So don't wait for the "big moment" before allowing yourself to smile.
Celebrate every achievement.
After all, every mountain is climbed one step at a time.
